Celebrating a Brooklyn Legacy
An era is coming to a close in Cobble Hill! After 28 years of bringing boundary-pushing opera to life, we are leaving our longtime home. The historic building at 219 Court Street is being sold, and while VPR’s next chapter is still being written, there’s no way we can say goodbye to this incredible space without one final community celebration.
If you’ve performed with us, attended a production, or simply walked past our doors and enjoyed the music echoing into the street, you’re part of our story. Come join us again for an evening of music, memories, and community.

What to Expect
- Performance and art is the soul of this building. Bring your favorite aria to perform! Acclaimed pianists Dmitriy Glivinskiy and Matthew Lobaugh will be at the keys all evening to accompany anyone who wants to sing.
- Filmmakers Bill Poznanski and Janene Knox will be on-site capturing the history of the space. We want to hear from you—stop by the camera to share your favorite memories of VPR and 219 Court Street.
- We are gathering family-style. Please feel free to bring your favorite snack, drink, or sweet treat to share.
Let’s fill the room with music one last time, toast the beautiful memories created within these walls, and give Behind the Door a spectacular send-off.
